Mantra
A commotion cried out from the other room
They ran and saw us there
Behind the curtain, we drew closer
Not knowing that closer meant farther and further down than before
The window cracked open, in cups and plates laid out
Time moves slowly, our souls strung about in little circles
The onlookers saw us there
Cried out and asked how it was we were
Seasons had passed and their hair was longer
It took us a moment to get up and call back
We look at the walls, out the window, and into the mirror
There is rain and dirt and the sun and the moon in this room
We could go and find the edges of this map
But we rose and walked back towards the door
Onlookers cried as we passed through the vestibule
Where we were and where we are going are not too different
But we may change if we are able
The onlookers embraced us knowing not how far we had to go
But we may stay a while longer in the same room together
We shared this embrace and walked from room to room
Sharing in whispers
They may see us spinning
But we never move
